Sales is like a drug. It really can be the highest high a person can get sometimes. And every time I get a whif of an opportunity to sell to a customer, I just have to take it. And quite often, I miss the feel of a full suit, and the smell of a new car, and the thrill of a fresh up...

I miss it every day. That was the most fun I had on a job ever. I recommend it to anyone that claims to be a “Car Guy”.

It’s a hell of a business though. Only the good survive.

Still being young, I just miss the money. We don’t have kids yet, so I feel like I should still be out there grindin.

If i wasn’t worried about feeling bad sellingwhen a person is dead set on a crap car i might do it. But I would not be able to keep a straight face congratulating somebody on buying a pt cruiser.

It’s been my experience that people interested in crap cars are usually just cheap. At that point you just be polite and congratulate them for getting the great deal you’re providing.

True dat. I wish cheap people would realize their cheapness costs them more money in the long run.

“I go 10000 miles between oil changes.” “what kind of synthetic are you using?” “ fukk that noise costs too much. I run the cheapest oil i can find.” “Good luck with that?” “Transmission fluid needs changing? Thats just so service writers can make an extra buck.”

And after 65k of neglect and abuse they wonder why their car stopped working. Or complain that repairing the current hooptie costs too much and spend 3 grand over their budget on a “new” soon to be in a similar state heap.

I may be a bit biased. I see a lot of people who don’t care about/for their cars. I want to take their keys and tell them they don’t want a car they want a magic carpet. Magic carpets have 0 long term maintenance costs save for dry cleaning and scotch guard.
